Huawei is a well known and respected manufacturer for wireless 3G or 4G modems. This time we tested the instruments in the HSPA+ Dual Carrier. This technological innovation allows you to download data from the Internet at incredible 42 Mbit/s under certain mobile conditions. This rate is several times higher than most cable Internet connections in Europe and Asia!

The HUAWEI modem E372 looks simple - like a typical device of this kind, wrapped up in a pretty case. Besides, the obvious SIM card slot is hidden at the bottom of the case. On the other side, you will find the plug socket for external antenna. The connector is TS-9.  Another feature is a microSD card slot. When placed in the card, the modem can be used as a stick.

HUAWEI E372 could work with qual-band UMTS 850/900/1900/2100MHz, which almost covers all the WCDMA networks all over the world. So HUAWEI E372 is one of the best 3G modem to roam around the world. ZTE MF195 3G HSDPA Mobile Internet Stick Review

Choosing the right USB modem for mobile internet is not easy. Therefore, we have to test another model, this time it’s from ZTE, and see if you are interested in this one.   One might think that it's nothing. We need a little gadget that you insert into the USB port and configured to give us access to the mobile internet. It is worth to pay attention, both on the modem parameters, as well as any additional features that can benefit the users.

ZTE MF195 USB modem is a relatively new device offered by T-Mobile, which is consistent with the standard HSPA+ technology. According to official specification, we can achieve download speeds at up to 21 Mbps. The HSUPA upload speed could reach up to 5.76 Mbps. But under real environment, the speed may be only half or more.

New software for the modem ZTE MF195   There is new software that improves the performance of the MF195 modem. You can download them here - just that you click the "Downloads".   The device ZTE MF195 itself has a removable top flap, under which there are slots for SIM card and a microSD memory card (supports up to 32 GB capacity). You have to admit, it's a fantastic deal. If you just do not use a modem to connect to the Internet, we can always treat it as a normal flash drive, storing files. Of course, the same USB connector is safely protected from dust and debris particles from the environment. It is a pity that the cap is not somehow attached and can easily be lost. A great advantage of ZTE MF195 USB is built-in socket used to connect an external antenna. It certainly can be useful in areas with slightly weaker coverage. Users just need set aside a small cap and connect an external antenna (sold separately).

Modem Setup is basically maintenance-free. When plugged in the USB port, it will automatically install the drivers and software for Internet Manager. When it starts only give the code to the SIM card and wait for the Connect button, and then it will become active. And this happens almost instantly and you can see that both the hardware and software to work fine. The modem's LED indicates the connection status.

User check speed Internet connection using specialized tools - SpeedTest. At the border of Downtown and Will in Warsaw, where we have tested the modem, we were able to achieve data transfer rates of 13 to 14 Mbps, and upstream from the network was about 3 to 4 Mbps. This is a very good result. All services and web pages load quickly, even without an external antenna, the modem does not lose coverage. ZTE MF195 USB therefore works very stable. During the next day’s test, changed the location in the city, and each time the modem connect to the network instantly.

In conclusion, the ZTE MF195 USB modem is definitely recommendable. It takes very little space and provides a stable access to the mobile Internet and a decent download speed and upload the data .Not to forget about the extra features, the built-in socket for connecting an external antenna and a slot for memory cards microSD.

Here now, there are many upgraded USB stick, such as ZTE MF668 and ZTE MF821 available with much high speed and stable connection. If you want to experience better, you can check them on 4gltemall.com .

This modem HUAWEI E353 provides lightning-fast network connectivity and ultra-fast. Today, we will introduce the HUAWEI E353 3G high speed internet stick.

HUAWEI E353 is not the latest model from Huawei, but it must be one of the most popular USB Moem and it does not cost much and has an impressive performance. The device looks like most 3G modems, connected via USB - inconspicuous. The quality of plastics used is satisfactory, and easy slide of the back cover makes it very user friendly. The E353 also has CRC9 aerial socket from which you need to use if you want to work at high speed in difficult conditions. The design is minimalist, and we can choose the following colors available: white, black, black and white, and pink. Modem weighs only 26 g.

Huawei E353 connects to the internet in just 15 seconds when connected to the computer. It’s a really good result, which will save us unnecessary expectations. The speed at which your modem connects to the network is up to 21 Mbps (HSPA+) - more enough for the majority of Internet users. The uploading takes place at a maximum speed of 5.76 Mbps. Both parameters are significantly better than the performance of broadband connections in Europe and Aisa. Modem connection service can be instantly set up to work in almost all operating systems. This includes Windows versions XP SP2, Vista and the latest Windows 7 and Linux. The Mac OS X is also supported.

The installation process is very easy. After placing the modem into the USB port, just wait until the auto installer application used to configure the connection. All drivers and instructions are loaded into the Huawei E353 into your computer so do not need to insert any disc. The entire installation process takes a while and requires just a few clicks and entering a PIN. Then we can freely enjoy the benefits of the Internet.

The setup program will bring up information on the signal level and standard network connection. We can also monitor the data transfer and send SMS messages. During the tests, the modem e353 has worked stably and did not notice problems such as breaking up or losing coverage.

Huawei E353 is the perfect choice for reasonable money; it’s a well-built mobile internet stick. HUAWEI E353 will provide us with high speed internet access in all conditions. Rapid installation and trouble-free service will certainly appeal to all users. The external antenna connector is a nice add-on that can be useful in difficult conditions.

HUAWEI E3131 3G 21Mbps Hilink USB Stick Review

To choose the right USB modem, it depends not only on the speed and efficiency of the mobile internet. As a result, it will also depend on the experience of using a computer. Most of us use it almost exclusively online. But when you use a USB Dongle, it may be already outline.   Huawei E3131 USB modem looks simple, just like the other common type of USB dongles. The black case is made of really good quality plastic. This white logo of T-mobile breaks the ubiquitous black and makes it look much interesting than most competitors. Under the removable lid there are two slots, the larger one, placed on the top is the place where you put the SIM card. The smaller one, on the side is the pace to mount its microSD memory cards up to 32 GB and use the modem like an ordinary USB flash drive, even when connected to the Internet.

On the body, we can see small plug socket for external antenna is hidden under a small cap. It is worth to use it if you intend to use mobile internet in bad network conditions, for example in buildings constructed so that effectively suppress cellular network coverage. In our tests, however, we did not take advantage of this opportunity - because Huawei is working very stable and does not lose coverage so easily. Enclosure E3131 hides another, a small but very useful curiosity - a solid metal handle leash. The string can also drag the USB connector cap to prevent it from getting lost.   The installation consists of connecting it to the USB port. The operating system automatically recognizes the device and installs the appropriate drivers.

Installation process as simple as connecting it to the USB port- The operating system automatically recognizes the device E3131 and installs the appropriate drivers. The driver is stored in the modem, so we do not need to use additional software that comes on additional media. With Windows 7, you only need to manually run the installer for the Internet Manager. However, it is very easy and it boils down to virtually one click. If you are using the latest Windows 8, you do not have to do even that - everything will be completely automatic.     In addition to the connection to the internet, leading Internet Manager Panel also gives you access to many useful options. With it, you can send and receive text messages, check history of operations, the statistics of downloaded and uploaded data, and even use the subscriber's personal account at T-Mobile. Huawei E3131 is compatible with HSPA+, which means that it is able to download data at speeds up to 21 Mbit/s. Posting is done in standard HSUPA, there is a maximum transfer rate of 5.76 Mbit/s. Such parameters freely enough to free and comfortable surfing the Internet resources. The practical results of our tests present themselves as well. Transfer speed in the test fluctuated around 14 Mbit/s for download.

Huawei E3131 modem is that you can recommend with a clear conscience, it is a small, portable and offers high-speed mobile Internet. His decisive advantages are also practical solutions, such as space for extra memory and a slot for an external antenna. And here now, there are upgraded HUAWEI E3251 Hilink HSPA+ 42Mbps stick, if you want higher speed, you may need check HUAWEI E3251 on 4gltemall.com . You will find something more amazing.

HUAWEI E372 42Mbps USB Stick Work with Netgear MBRN3000

T-Mobile E372(Huawei) is sold under the name WEB 'N' WALK STICK BUSINESS II and it’s SIM card free without lock in Germany version. The Dual Carrier HSPA+ Huawei E372 reaches up to 42Mbit/s (according to manufacturer). The dual cell HSPA+ could support double speed than single HSPA+ network connection.

Huawei E372 with the Netgear MBRN3000 Router - but not with T-Mobile firmware

If you Plug the Huawei E372 to the router MBRN3000, it will not be recognized. The reason is the special T-Mobile firmware. In order to be able to run the E372 stick with the Netgear MBRN3000, user need a neutral firmware. This could be obtained free of charge on the Internet.

Instructions to play the firmware(User need 2 steps to play the firmware):

  • A. The current version firmware for the stick to find on dc-files.com
  • B. Flash code generator for Huawei (v4mpire_unlocker, simply v4mpire_unlocker in Google search)

First, you create the Flash code v4mpire_unlocker with the program. You start this program and return the IMEI number of a stick. The IMEI number can be found in the T-Mobile Connection Manager, or lay the stick in packing. Then click on Calculate the code.

Now the flashing is: Code displayed. We record this or copy it. Then you start the firmware exe from dc-files.com. Shortly thereafter, we will post flash demand code we created before. Just enter the code and the stick gets filled with the new firmware. The whole takes a few minutes. Now you can plug the stick into the Netgear MBRN3000 and let run through the setup wizard. The stick is found and installed.

However, we have found that with the Netgear MBRN3000 loses about 40% of performance. When HUAWEI E372 stick connects to the PC directly, the speed of up to 24Mbps can be reached, but with the Netgear MBRN3000 router, only 16 Mbps can be achieved. Apparently the Netgear MBRN3000 is not designed for Dual Carrier HSPA+ and can’t not get sufficient power for such high bandwidths. The HUAWEI E372 stick also works with all providers in Austria because it is not locked to T-Mobile. It’s SIM card free and support 3G UMTS/DC-HSPA+ Qual-bands.

The Telecom Speed Stick II LTE supports LTE to a total of five frequencies, including the three major band 3/7/20 (800/1800/2600MHz) for Germany. The download speeds can reach to 100 Mbit/s, while the upload up to 50 megabits is possible. When 4G LTE network is not available, Speed stick II LTE can automatically switch to the UMTS and GSM network. On UMTS network, the speed of up to 42.2 Mbit/s can be achieved with the mobile network with the data accelerator DC-HSPA+ is equipped.   Compared to the first Speed Stick LTE, the latest version seems to be much cheaper, but perhaps it’s because it’s unfortunately somewhat less well-equipped. In contrast to the Telekom Speed Stick I, Speedstick II LTE missed the connector for an external antenna. But that's not the only difference: even the USB port is rotatable when LTE Speed Stick II LTE cannot. The workmanship is not as high as the HUAWEI E398 manufactured by Huawei. The common feature is that both them can be upgraded with a MicroSD memory card to the memory stick.     The idea to use the Speed Stick II LTE is only worthwhile if you currently still has no LTE stick. The device offers all important functions and is a good introduction to the fourth generation of mobile communications. If you want to have a slightly higher quality model or connectors for external antennas, it is better to consider Speed Stick LTE without the "II", that is HUAWEI E398u-15.

Data Overview E3276 Review

Highlight feature: LTE Category 4

The German Telekom advertises LTE Speed Stick III, which could actually possibly reach download speed even up to 150 Mbit/s (LTE Category 4). To fulfill this down sream, the LTE network of Telekom must also be upgraded accordingly, but so far it has not happened yet. In Germany, you have to surf at around 100 Mbit/s downstream and 50 Mbit/s upstream, while in many other European or Asian countries, higher speeds are possible. For example, the Swisscom LTE in 2013 with the increased data rate offers since the end of May in Switzerland. For use in other countries, the unlocked Speed Stick III is already very well suited Via LTE frequency bands to support 800/900/1800/2100/2600 and UMTS bands around 850/900/1900/2100 MHz. The Speedstick III is from HUAWEI E3276 USB Stick, and there are many variants for E3276, they are born to support various LTE frequency bands worldwide for all the operators.

Backward compatible with UMTS and GSM

Of course, the Speed Stick III, like its predecessors, will be backward compatible with the UMTS and GSM network available. In 2G GSM/EDGE, network speed up to 236 kbit/s is possible while on the 3G UMTS/DC-HSPA+ network, the download speed could reach even up to 42.2 Mbit/s. As a user, you are not absolutely dependent on LTE to surf quickly. The switch between the different network technologies should be barely noticeable under normal circumstances; it is depending on the radio coverage, on the train or in the car.

Simple software for use with all simcards The software that runs on Windows computers as well as on the Mac OS X operating system that allows a very easy use. With Telekom simcards, no further configuration is necessary. Simply enter the PIN number and the connection is made. If with sim cards from other network operators, to enter a new connection profile in the settings is needed. What’s more, users can also send and receive SMS and view statistics on data consumption and time online. These statistics can be broken down by day or month.

  Price and Availability

Telekom LTE Speed Stick III is available on the online store of 4gltemall.com . Theoretically, we had made several tests in Hong Kong for the data rate speed. And it’s one of the best and fastest 4G LTE Surfstick available. LTE is rolled out by Germany Telekom for two years. The first was in the city of Cologne in July 2011. In 2012, the 4G network plans are to go over 200 cities. On the body of the LTE Stick, there is the logo of Telekom. On the back is the exact name E398u-15, this is the second Revision of HUAWEI E398.

Compared to its predecessor, the stick is now finally LTE800 compatible. Therefore, users can surf via LTE in rural areas. Also, the LTE bands 2.6GHz and 1.8 GHz are supported. Speed Stick is the ideal USB datacard not only for urban use. With two integrated antennas (MIMO 2 × 2) and the support of up to 20 MHz bandwidth, the E398 can support up to 100 Mbps downstream and up to 50 Mbps upstream.

A clear advantage over the Samsung GT-B3740 is the excellent backward compatibility with 3G DC-HSPA+/UMTS and 2G GPRS/GSM. If the 4G LTE network is not available, the stick can easily switch to the next available technology. There is a microSD slot that can be up to 32 GB for storage. Then the Surfstick could turn to a USB memory stick, for example for storing music, photos or other documents. The Speedstick LTE has two connectors for external antennsa. In areas of poor reception, the signal can be improved with the external antenna. According to the data sheet from Telekom, the device E398u-15 supports multi-mode network of mobile technology automatically. By the way, the firmware update function is also available in the mobile partner.   What’s more, the USB is rotatable for 270 degree, user can modify the USB angle to better fit for the computers.

Detailed data sheet(PDF);

Behind the Speedport LTE, it’s indicated that the model brand HUAWEI and model number B390s-2. The integrated LTE modem (4G) is only capable of the LTE band 20 (800 MHz). The Uplink frequency is 832-862MHz and downlink frequency is 791-821 MHz. The supported bandwidth is 10 MHz. So\ the router is uniquely determined only for rural use. The chipset "HiSilicon Hi6910" was installed.

Telephone:

Unfortunately, the router does not have a PBX. For Germany Telekom, this feature may be a disadvantage. Because in LTE tariff "Call & Surf via Funk "is an analog telephone port (optional ISDN) including fast network speed. So you need no additional hardware.

LAN & WLAN:

For the construction of the home network, 4 LAN ports can be used at the LTE speed port B390s-2. If you prefer to connect wirelessly, user can rely on the WLAN standards IEEE 802.11 b/g, which allows up to 54 Mbit/s data transfer rate. The latest "N" standard is unfortunately not supported, nor as 5 GHz Wi-Fi. This should hopefully be supported with the upgraded model. The HUAWEI B593u-12 provides as significantly Higher speed to 100Mbps. And the encryption method can be chosen between WEP, WPA and WPA2 as usual.

Extra information:

The Telekom Speedport LTE is almost half as much as the technical, virtually identical to Vodafone B1000 4G Router. The weight is only 424 grams instead of 900 grams. The dimensions of the router are 195 x 169 x 64 mm (width x height x depth). Anyhow, it’s a reliable wireless router for building a home or office network.

HUAWEI E392 Not available in Germany

So far, Huawei is the major vendor for LTE and had supplied the major LTE network operators in Germany. Previously, HUAWEI had supplied the Speed Stick LTE for Telekom, and the K5005 for Vodafone, they are from the factory modem named Huawei E398. HUAWEI E392 is actually not a typo, it’s a newer model with a lower number than the older model E398.  The original HUAWEI E392 4G Stick (without logo of Vodafone or Telekom) so far is not available in Germany. Users could get it from 4gltemall.com . The compact USB stick is also LTE Category 3 USB Stick and could completely replace HUAWEI E398.

The stick E392 supports casually pretty much everything that is common to worldwide radio standards. In LTE (4G), E392 stick supports the frequency bands 800, 900, 1800, 2100 and 2600 MHz. Here, in Germany rather LTE800, 1800 and 2600 are relevant. So the HUAWEI E392 could work with other European countries 4G networks. Also the 3G spectrum is almost completely covered. The E392 supports UMTS at 900,1900 and 2100 MHz in the standard DC-HSPA+/ HSPA+/ HSDPA and HSUPA. In the 2G networks users can access in the bands GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz (Quad-band).

Based on the LTE technology, the E392 could transmit data with both FDD and TDD. These are two different duplex methods. For FDD (frequency division duplex), which is common in Germany, there are 2 separate frequency bands to use to send and receive data simultaneously. For TDD (time division duplex), the sending and receiving transmitted on the same frequency band, but slightly delayed. FDD is to be found mainly in Asia. E-Plus also experimented with the technology, and this could perhaps bring in the future for use in Germany.

Anyone who uses a mobile LTE deal can theoretically explore the full power of the stick. This is a 100 Mbps stick for the download and it can be transmitted with a maximum of 50 Mbps. The HUAWEI E392 has provided two slots (MIMO) for connecting an external antenna. This often brings significant advantages in weak reception areas. The expandability via microSD card (up to 32GB) is now practically available. At just 40 grams of weight is also quite easy to take in hand or pocket.

Conclusion

The Huawei E392 is the perfect travel companion based on the huge range of supported standards. Those who usually travel the world will never be disappointed.

Vodafone K5150 HUAWEI 4G LTE Stick Review

Vodafone K5150 LTE stick produced by Huawei will come soon also in Germany on the market for Vodafone. In this article, we will write a few words about the technical details and introduce you to know more about this LTE surf stick. The HUAWEI K5150 is the direct successor of the popular Vodafone K5005(Huawei E398) and is technically on the absolute amount of time: With support for LTE Category 4, up to 150 megabits per second for downstream and up to 50 Mbit/s for upload speed are possible.

HiSilicon Chipset and Frequency Bands

The Chinese manufacturer Huawei has almost exclusively a modem chipset of its own subsidiary HiSilicon for some months. No wonder the Hi6920, the company has one of the most powerful modem ever on the market - even the top chipset supplier Qualcomm, its LTE Category 4 can currently offer only his smartphone chipset MSM8974 (Snapdragon 800). As it is not surprising that the Vodafone K5150 has such HiSilicon Balong integrated 710/ Hi6920 chipset.

Based on this chipset, the Maximum LTE speed for download is at 150 Mbit/s, when working in the UMTS network, the speed via DC-HSPA+ is up to 42.2 Mbit/s. By the way, the K5150 LTE supports 800/1800/2100/2600 MHz frequency bands, and K5150 supports 3G UMTS bands on 900/2100 MHz. In addition, the HUAWEI K5150 is of course 2G EDGE and GSM backward as a fallback on board again.

Vodafone Design and Software

Vodafone K5150 is made entirely of plastic, on the back it’s in shiny red and on the front painted in white. The USB port cannot fold, which means that the K5150 is certainly inconvenient for some users, especially since the Huawei E3276 is a technically equivalent model on the market; the rotatable USB is an attractive and user-friendly feature. Not only the hardware, the software is also fully maintained in the Vodafone-design and therefore especially suitable for use with Vodafone SIM cards. A preliminary field test in the coming weeks will be able to say more about what handling and user friendliness of the software. As a mature LTE modem, the software for the Vodafone K5150 is naturally functional on all major operating systems such as Windows 7, Windows 8 and Mac OS X.

Other Features

The other technical data correspond to those expected of a current LTE Surfstick for the high-end class: an LED on the top shows in different colors the respective operating mode. There is also a slot for MicroSD memory cards to 32 gigabytes. Also two connectors for external antenna type TS-9 are on board. One port is located under the cover of the memory card slot, the other terminal has a separate cover. When using the LTE network, the connection of two antennas and a MIMO antenna is recommended due to the MIMO antenna technology would improve the connection speed.

Price and release date

The Vodafone K5150 should be available in the next few days in the Vodafone online shop and at other online retailers such as www.4gltemall.com .  As an alternative, the technically equivalent Huawei E3276 offers even same specifications; the model number is E3276s-151. So if you like HUAWEI Brand, you could take E3276 into consideration for Vodafone 4G networks.

Vodafone Launch LTE Category 4 Stick

Vodafone offers LTE network now speeds up to 150 megabits per second (LTE Category 4). The speeds are initially available in the cities of Dusseldorf, Munich, Dortmund and Dresden, but are offered in the coming weeks in other cities. It is important to note that the 150 Mbit/s can be achieved only through LTE2600, in the well-developed network LTE800 only about 50 Mbit/s are possible. The smartphone tariffs and data tariff through Vodafone Mobile Internet Flat 50.0 can use the higher speed at no extra charge.

The hardware for Vodafone is from Chinese manufacturer Huawei. As the first smartphone with LTE Category 4 is the Huawei Ascend P2 in the Vodafone shops, the first USB surf stick with LTE Category 4 is the Vodafone K5150H, which is also manufactured by Huawei. Might come in the next few weeks to other smart phones and modems, it is speculated, that the iPhone 5S (or whatever it is called) already support LTE Category 4.

Many of the customers may of course ask the meaning of 150 Mbit/s whom you look at the availability and the rates. My opinion: on the one hand, it is for Vodafone a great marketing tool for some users, it is certainly important to be able, at least theoretically reach 150 Mbit/s. On the other hand, the total capacity will be increased so that more people get good data rates simultaneously. And since I see the true sense: in places where currently LTE2600 is used, is expected anyway with a heavy load of networks.

In the coming days and weeks, the Huawei E3276 4G LTE Category 4 Surfstick will come available, and we will take a few tests on the Vodafone 4G network, so that data rates are achievable in reality. And we will have a clear review about the 4G LTE Category 4 network from Vodafone.

ZTE MF822 4G Modem VS ZTE MF823 4G Aircard

Since more and more people are using 4G network for their home or office, they improve the communication efficiency through high network connection speed. As one of the important telecom equipment sipplier, ZTE had releases many 4G Aircards for various operators. And more and more people know ZTE and ZTE 4G modems.

ZTE MF822 and MF823 are two of the hot 4G dongles. ZTE MF823 is the world's slimmest 4G USB dongle. Due to the compacity requirement, the inner part of a 4G modem usually contains more contents so as to fulfill more functions and high demand for network. This feature makes 4G dongle in bigger body than 3G modems. ZTE optimized this feature and let MF823 in slim size, actually, some predecessor model of ZTE MF823 is also very big, many users feedback they don't like the big body..

ZTE MF823 4G USB Stick is now available for O2 contract, the O2 LTE USB 4G could support 4G LTE FDD bands 3/7/8/20 (800/900/1800/2600MHz), which is for Germany 4G network. However, the unlocked ZTE MF823 would in other European countries, such France, Portugal, UK, Switzerland, Netherlands and Finland. Most of the 4G network frequency bands are similar, which makes the roam of ZTE MF823 come true. What's more, ZTE Mf823 could work with most 4G operators in Asia and Middle East.

By the way, unlike the first generation 4G dongle from ZTE, MF823 is in compact USB design, the USB can't rotate. The other model ZTE MF822 is one special one, it's a 4G USB Modem for North America. It could support 4G LTE frequency band 4 and band 7 (1700/2100/2600MHz), which is mostly deployed in Canada and USA. ZTE MF822 is already available for Canada operator "Rogers". To work with Rogers, the FCC certificate is necessary for the device. As we know, ZTE MF822 is the only model that combines 4G band 4 and band 7. So unlocked ZTE MF822 could work in Canada and also roam to work with some operators in USA. Frankly speaking, ZTE MF822 could also work with the operators in Asia and Europe who provider the LTE band 7. So MF822 is also powerful in the compatibility with global operators.

ZTE MF823 and MF822 are not brother models, but they are both LTE category 3 USB modem. They both support the peak download speed up to 100Mbps and upload speed up to 50Mbps. The speeds are amazing for the user to trip or surf outdoor, if you want unlock MF823 or MF822, welcome to visit http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-usb-modem/zte-4g-lte-modem.html .

Unlocked Telstra USB 4G (ZTE MF821) 4G USB Modem Review

Today, we get a new 4G LTE USB datacard, the 4G aircard model number is ZTE MF821. The 4G modem is packed well in a box, there is the operator's logo "Telstra USB 4G" on the front box, and the information is telling user this 4G USB modem. The ZTE MF821 is already unlocked by our group, so users don’t need worry about the lock issue.

At the side of the box, we can see that LTE Frequency bands that ZTE MF821 could work with. The specification indicates MF821 could support FDD LTE 1800/2600Mhz, but per our information from the manufacturer ZTE, the modem MF821 4G aircard could support band 1, band 3 and band 7(1800/2100/2600MHz), we suppose this band is not activated because the operator Telstra is not providing the LTE band 1 (2100MHz).

And the 3G DC-HSPA+ Tri-band (850/1900/2100) is backward compatible. Under the 4G LTE network, user could enjoy high speed up to 10Mbps. Even on 3G network, ZTE MF821 could reach speed to 42Mbps.

Open the package, we can see the 4G dongle ZTE MF821. There is a logo of "4G" and "T", which means Telstra 4G. On the side, we can see two small icon of signal; they are two hidden connectors for external antennas. This feature is important for 4G data transmission, and it lets MF821 different from MF820 or MF820T. On the other side, there is no slot.

The USB of ZTE MF821 is rotatable for 180 degree, user could hide the USB in the body of MF821. User need open the back over and find the SIM card slot. On the SIM slot, we can see the model number, IMEI number, place of origin (Made in China) and manufacturer ZTE Corporation. And close to the SIM card slot, there is a slot for MicroSD memory card. The MF821 could support maximum 32GB SD memory card.

Comparing with other ZTE 4G Aircard, such MF880 or MF820D, ZTE MF821 is really very slim, the size of MF821 is as big as a 3G datacard.  So if a user prefer a small size USB dongle, ZTE MF821 is a good option and without any contract. But before purchase, user should concern about the 4G frequency band  compatibility, if you want a 4G Aircard for FDD band 20 (800MHz) or TDD band 38 (2300MHz), or any other bands that are not same as MF821 supporting, you may need check other model and choose the right one. You can check here more 4G Aircard for various LTE frequency bands:   http://www.4gltemall.com/ue-by-spectrum.html

ZTE MF820T TD-LTE Modem VS ZTE MF820D FDD-LTE Modem

Most of ZTE 4G modems looks the same, and the first generation of ZTE 4G Dongles are all using same appearance design, so it becomes much harder to identify them. No wonder what the difference between them is. We open the blog especially for clear out the similar 4G devices and let users know more about the details of the LTE modems they had used.

ZTE MF820T and ZTE MF820D are two similar 4G LTE sticks for first generation ZTE 4G USB modems. Most of the modems, appearance similar or not, their difference are mainly on the core part, that is the platform chipset, which decides what LTE frequency bands that could support and where they can be used.

ZTE MF820T is based on Qualcomm MDM9600 chipset, it could work TD-LTE bands 38 and band 40 (2300/2600MHz). ZTE MF820D is based on Qualcomm MDM9200 chipset, it would support FDD LTE band 3, 7 and 20 (800/1800/2600MHz). Unlike ZTE MF880, they can only work on single TD-LTE network or FDD network, MF880 would support LTE dual-mode (TDD&FDD).

As the typical features of ZTE first generation 4G USB stick, there is no external antenna connector in the dongle, so the LTE MIMO transmission can't make true. But there is built-in antenna which is still reliable to connect network in high speed.

What's more, there is no MicroSD card slot available in MF820T and MF820D. We suppose they are not for single user, it's more like designed for large data in project test or other research terms. However, the 4G aircard may be more reliable when there is no SD card sharing function. According to the experience in 3G modems, SD card usually causes the application of wireless dongle in trouble.

And we can see the big body of the 4G modem ZTE MF820D and MF820T is not user-friendly. It's almost twice bigger than ZTE 3G modems. We hope there will be some smarter or slimmer models available in near future, and this will not only need the improvement in the design for inner part, but also the function more powerful.

Band 4 AWS(1700/2100MHz) – Operators and UEs

Band 4 (AWS 1700/2100MHz) is used in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Chile. It replaces some of the spectrum formerly allocated to Multipoint Multichannel Distribution Service (MMDS), sometimes referred to as Wireless Cable, which existed from 2150 to 2162 MHz. The AWS band uses microwave frequencies in two segments: from 1710 to 1755 MHz for uplink, and from 2110 to 2155 MHz for downlink. The service is intended to be used by mobile devices such as wireless phones for mobile data, video, and messaging services.

Now, AWS has become "an essential LTE band for LTE roaming support in North America and Latin America, advancing AWS as a solid candidate for one of the essential seven or eight LTE bands deemed critical for global roaming LTE devices and services," said the Current Analysis report.
